The clay comes from Xiaomeiyao, one of the old mines in the hills near Renshu Village (3 km west of Huanglongshan). It was dug and used raw, with half a year of weathering and no blending. The surface keeps a grainy, open texture. After firing it reads as a warm orange-red with a soft matte finish, different from the glassy look of standard zhuni.
140 ml ± 5 ml. An ideal size for one to three people.
Suited to high-aroma teas such as oolong, black tea, and yancha (rock tea). This shape, the shuiping pot, has served exactly this kind of daily brewing for centuries.
